Being Enough Isn't Something You Earn

Clearing The SH*T Around AI – clarity call on October 31 – no prerequisites! >>

Hi friend! Have you ever noticed how much of our lives we seem to spend fixing, pleasing and proving? And is that any fun?

I invite you to think about the last time you got genuinely excited about something – before the sensible voice in your head stepped in and talked you out of it. The last time you laughed without checking who was watching. The last time you truly desired more from life, even if you couldn’t have said exactly what “more” meant!

For a lot of us, these moments get rarer with each passing year. There’s always another deadline, another bill to pay, another person who needs something. Being the one who usually handles things can become a point of pride. And yet, somewhere along the way, the question of what actually lights you up stops getting asked.

That question can’t be outsourced. Not to a mentor, not to a podcast and not to AI. You’re the only one who knows who you really are, and who you’d like to become. Getting back in touch with that knowing takes practice: asking different questions, and slowly learning to trust your own answers.

From the outside, it all looked fine

I happen to personally understand the gap between looking like you have it together and actually enjoying your life. Years before discovering Access Consciousness, I was a chiropractor in California, engaged to be married and carrying a deep unhappiness I usually kept to myself. I poured so much energy into keeping other people happy, without noticing that their happiness had in fact become my priority.

Plenty of us will recognise this pattern. You’re taught to treat yourself (and your body!) like a machine that needs tuning and if something feels off, the fix must be more effort.

The search for the faulty part never ends, because the whole premise is that there is one. When you add to that the running commentary in your head – the one that is constantly whispering that you’re not doing enough, earning enough, being enough – you end up creating an inner world of judgement, for yourself and everything you’re choosing in your life.

But what if judgment has never created anything of value? What if judging yourself is the very thing standing between you and the life you want?

You don’t have to get you right

I’d like to present an idea and perhaps a solution that can feel almost too simple: you don’t have to fix yourself before you’re allowed to be yourself.

Many people picture authenticity as a finish line – fully healed, successful, steady and unshakeable. But being you has nothing to do with perfection – it’s about not making yourself wrong when life gets messy. I often describe it as moving from a focus on your “wrongness” to recognising your “strongness”.

And what if, instead of trying to find yourself, you can actually choose to create yourself, one choice at a time, every day.

Put down the proof

That kind of creation gets much easier when you stop trying to prove your worth. So much of how we’re raised revolves around earning approval from parents, partners, bosses, even ourselves. To manage it, many of us dim our brilliance, hide the parts of ourselves that seem odd, and sand ourselves down into something easier for others to accept.

What if those so-called flaws  – your sensitivity, your quirks, your quantum-level weirdness – are actually where your greatest gifts live?

Trying to be liked is exhausting. So what if from now on, your focus could be less about becoming someone new, and more about un-becoming everything you were told you had to be? So you can finally relax into who you already are!

If you’d like to dive even deeper into this, I invite you to consider Being You, Changing the World, a three-day class in Rome this November, in person or online.

PS: If you haven’t explored it yet, https://access.me/ is a living library of Access Consciousness classes — thousands of hours on money, relationships, bodies, happiness, and more. It’s one of the resources at the top of my own list because it keeps gifting new awareness and space every time I listen.
