Things I Would Say To My Younger Self

Hi friend! Do you ever wish you could talk to your younger self? Offer them nuggets of wisdom and clues from what you now know?

If I could go back and sit with my younger self, I wouldn’t lecture him.
I’d just gently offer these reminders.

Because he was doing his best.
And so are you.

(Also I’d save him from the beans. You’ll understand when you get to #7.) 😂

1. Being serious doesn’t make things work.
It just makes you miserable while they don’t work.

2.Most of what’s going through your head isn’t even yours.
You’re not thinking, you’re perceiving.

3.Making yourself smaller doesn’t make other people feel better.
It just makes the both of you feel worse.

4.You are allowed to laugh at yourself.
Honestly, please start sooner – it changes everything.

5.The thing you keep trying to fix about yourself?
That’s actually the most interesting thing about you.

6.You already know what’s true.
It’s the thing that makes you lighter when you think about it.

7.Also, do not buy four shopping carts of beans for Y2K. I promise you, the world is not ending.
The beans are not the answer. They never are.

What would you go back and tell your younger self?

(For the skeptics: Even if you feel like you can’t actually talk to your younger self, what if you give it a try and see how it goes?)

Save this for the days you forget. And if someone comes to mind… give it wings and share?

Grateful for you!
Dain
